Alex is a sophomore in the Villanova Honors Program pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with minors in Sustainable Engineering and Real Estate Development. His passion for sustainable solutions extends globally through his work with Villanova Engineering Service Learning (VESL), where he has designed renewable energy systems in Peru and conducted water quality assessments in Panama.
Before joining the Xu Lab, Alex did research under the MATCH & VURF programs, developing differential AI models to evaluate how climate change affects the sustainability of transportation infrastructure. Currently, he’s researching the toxicological dangers of emerging contaminants with his mentor, Brian Yeung, using the Thiol Reactivity Assay to measure the molecular effects of disinfection byproducts (DBPs). In addition to his academic and research endeavors, Alex enjoys cooking and going to concerts.
